Osteopathy, Good Health in Good Hands

We are a professional, caring and friendly team of 3 GOsC registered osteopaths. Having worked locally as an osteopath since qualifying in 1994, I am happy that these days most people come to us by personal recommendations from previous clients. I am joined by my associates, Annastasia Fraser, who after being introduced to osteopathy after years of back pain herself, decided to change her career from law to osteopathy. More recently, we have been joined by my excellent new associate Tom Kilner.

Our clients range in age from newborn infants to the elderly.

Osteopathy is a modern, flourishing form of healthcare. It’s is a hands-on treatment that’s safe, gentle and very effective. The highly skilled diagnosis and healing techniques, learnt through many years of study, help people restore and maintain their optimum health.

People often assume that osteopaths only relieve back, muscle or joint pain, but in fact we have a wealth of experience and techniques to work with a wide range of health issues  – from care during pregnancy, through to digestive disorders. We have also helped clients with postural problems and injuries, as well as those suffering trauma, stress or emotional difficulties. We are able to adapt treatment plans to suit our patients’ needs, whether they are office workers, sports players, people with disabilities or retired people.

We are interested in identifying and treating the root causes of your symptoms.

Osteopathy is based on the principle that the body has an intrinsic ability to heal itself, and so we focus on treating existing conditions and preventing future illness. We consider your symptoms carefully in the context of your full medical history, lifestyle and personal circumstances, and like to discuss all our examination findings with you, along with our osteopathic diagnosis, treatment plan and advice. Our holistic approach ensures that all treatment is tailored to you as an individual. Our interest is in your long-term recovery.

Qualifications and Experience

I graduated in 1994 from the European School of Osteopathy, which is recognised globally as a leader in its field. After four years of full-time, intensive training, I immediately went on to complete a post-graduate course in Cranial Osteopathy at the Sutherland Cranial College. Since then I have undertaken other specialist courses in cranial osteopathy, and also in pregnancy, birth and paediatrics. These are fields I am particularly interested in, as I enjoy helping to prepare women for an optimal birth, and working with babies and children.

Annastasia worked as a solicitor in London for six years before she started studying osteopathy.  She went on to graduate with distinction from the British School of Osteopathy, a centre of excellence in osteopathic education, and is currently undertaking post-graduate cranial osteopathy courses at the Sutherland Cranial College.

Annastasia worked with the President of the British Osteopathic Association in London before moving to the South West, and has had experience helping patients of all ages with a wide range of acute and chronic problems.

Tom also graduated from the European School of Osteopathy in Maidstone. He comes from a long line of Doctors and Vets, so healthcare was a natural choice, but once he had observed several osteopaths working, he felt this was the career for him due to the holistic style of treatment, the greater contact time with patients and he was always more interested in treating people practically, using his hands, rather than with drugs. He finds it very rewarding to work and enjoys the diversity and adaptability of treating osteopathically and as a result is equally comfortable treating standard musculoskeletal problems, more complex cranial dysfunctions and also visceral and digestive complaints.

General Council of Osteopaths Registration

In 1993 under the Osteopaths Act, osteopathy became the first complementary health care profession to be accorded statutory recognition. The GOsC, General Osteopathic Council is responsible for regulating the osteopathic profession in the UK and also for promoting and developing osteopathy. It has been given powers by Parliament to set standards of education and conduct and maintain a register of those entitled to practise osteopathy.
